Faecal incontinence due to 4th Degree perineal tear after childbirth
A 28-year-old female patient with fecal incontinence due to a perineal tear after childbirth. The vagina has been united with the anus. Sphincter damage and perineal anatomy were repaired with:
- Bay suture
- Stapling of the rectal mucosa
- Suture muscle elevators
- Internal clamp suture
- Staple out clamp
- Suture of transversus perineus muscle
- Perineal skin suturing
The control of the restoration was done by endoscopic ultrasound before and after the operation which confirmed the correction of the anatomy. The patient was followed clinically for one year and had excellent sphincter function.
Sphincter repair in 3rd Degree injury.
A 40-year-old female patient with fecal incontinence due to transection of the sphincter during childbirth 2 years earlier. The patient has moderate to severe fecal incontinence. As can be seen at the beginning of the video the anus remains open as the sphincter has been completely cut. The perineum and sphincter muscles were repaired.
